was born December 8, 1953 in Kermit, Texas to Arley
Iven "Shorty" Owens and Edna Mae Stephens Owens. He has an older sister, Barbara Jean Owens Mills, and a younger
sister, Sandra "Sandi" Jo Owens Martin. He and his lovely wife Cristi live on a ten acre ranch in Midland County
Texas which he named The Shorty Mae in honor of his parents.
He taught himself how to play guitar and piano in his early teens and credits
his brother-in-law Claude Mills for teaching him how to bar chord. His musical tastes ecompass everything except Disco and
Rap which he despises. An artist and author as well as a composer, he's written several novels, a few short stories, and an
endless array of poems.
